New Forest District Council approves proposed plans for 22 affordable homes and community hospital in Hythe.
It was confirmed in the council’s Planning Committee meeting on November 9 that 100% of the properties will be for people on council waiting lists, in contrast with the initial 40% affordable housing requirement.
The site will provide 15 flats and 7 houses of one to four-bedroom homes.
All properties will have the right for occupants to buy in the future.
A new community hospital will replace the original Hythe Hospital building which closed in 2016 and is due to open and become operational in November.
The ambulance station will remain operational within the site.
Construction vehicle parking on residential streets has been an issue with local residents and parking will now be allocated on-site for building crews.
”It is the housing we need and I certainly support this.”
