New Forest Business News celebrates first year

The New Forest Business News website is celebrating the start of its second year.

Hundreds of people have regularly read the articles a year on from the launch, after previously quadrupling targets in the first three months with over 4,000 visitors.

The business news website launched in July 2022 and features news, launches, events, and more from the New Forest, Hampshire area.

Editor and Founder of New Forest Business News, Kerri L Watt, said: “I’ve absolutely loved growing the news website over the last year, and I really feel like I’ve only just begun too.”

“My jaw still hits the floor, even a year on, when I see how many people read the articles on the website.”

Watt created the website after studying journalism to accompany her PR consultancy business work.

She added: “I sat for ages thinking ‘who am I to do this?’.

“Eventually, I realised I didn’t want anyone else to pinch the idea, and I’m beyond pleased that I did!”

Over the past year since launching, there have been many stories promoting businesses across the New Forest area,.

The most viewed articles include;

  1. Admin No.1 announces podcast studio launch
  2. Student celebrates GCSE after running business alongside school
  3. Applemore Playzone welcomes hundreds of children
  4. Knitting shop Fully Woolly Launches in Hythe

Watt said it was a ‘joy’ to have a platform for local businesses to share news from the New Forest area, adding she was ‘excited’ to see what would happen in their second year.

Moving forward, mentoring opportunities for work experience students, running entrepreneur classes in local schools, hiring new reporters, and attending more events are all important to the editor.

Watt currently works as a freelance journalist, a PR trainer and is a producer and co-host of ‘The Big Biz Show’ podcast, after formerly working solely providing PR services.
