Fordingbridge Events Group and Fordingbridge Town Council announce free community event on May 07 to celebrate the King’s coronation and the 100th anniversary of the Recreation Ground.
The family event will have live music, BBQ, fairground rides, bouncy castles and stalls from various community groups.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics and volunteers will run The Fordingbridge Arms drinks marquee to raise funds for more community events in 2023.

Councillor Pete White, Chair of Fordingbridge Events Group, said: “We are really looking forward to another community event.
“We haven’t run a fundraising event since before the pandemic hit [2019]. We want to put the pandemic as far from our minds as possible and are already planning other future events.”
What to expect on the day…
- 2.30pm – Opening ceremony with the Town Cryer.
- 3pm – The big picnic, beer tent, live entertainment (including a headliner sponsored by local residents) and fairground rides.
- 6pm – The town beacon will be lit.
- 10pm – Event closes.
The Mayor of Fordingbridge, Anna Wilson, said: “We are really looking forward to a great celebratory day on the recreation ground. It’s a fantastic space that we have and so it seemed fitting to celebrate the centenary of being able to use it.”

Fordingbridge Coronation Picnic in the Park is on Sunday, May 07 from 2.30pm to 10pm at Fordingbridge Recreation Ground.
Free parking on the day is available in all the town’s car parks.
