Redrow’s plans for Ampress Park in Lymington

After New Forest District Council granted new planning permission for Ampress Park in Lymington, Redrow shares their plans.

Redrow was recently given permission to change the use of the units in buildings A, B and C at Ampress Park in Lymington.

This means the buildings could go from office and ‘light industry’ use to warehouses, restaurants, creches and offices.

Lymington and Pennington Town Council opposed the plans with Councillors agreeing it “crucial to preserve” the site’s commercial and industrial use to maintain the “equilibrium” of the town.

Redrow told New Forest Business News: “The units at Ampress Park remain available for the use of local businesses and this has not changed.

“While there has been a modification to the lease term of the units, now enabling businesses to occupy them for over 28 days, this will ensure these spaces are more attractive and more viable to businesses in the long-term, helping to enhance the potential range of amenities available in the local area.

“The local council also has the authority to review and approve all future occupants of these units.”

Redrow

The site was originally intended to provide units to business startups with short-term lease arrangements but was never brought to use.

Companies will now be able to stay in the units for over 28 days, meaning more security for occupants.

Redrow agreed to a condition preventing retail shops in any of the units to preserve Lymington High Street and town centre.

A business owner based in a nearby Ampress Park unit said: “We’re all concerned about what will happen with the space and who will be allowed to occupy it. There is already limited parking for staff let alone visitors, so if lots of things open up near us then there could be an issue.”

New occupants hoping to secure a unit will be vetted by New Forest District Council for approval.
