Walbank Opticians first ‘Style and Colour’ fundraiser raised £460 for Oakhaven Hospice on October 13.
It is reported that 59% of people in the UK wear glasses and Walbank Opticians believes choosing glasses is “one the most frustrating parts” of visiting opticians.
Director Twinkle Patel said: “1 in 4 people feel the look of the glasses is more important than the vision.
“By picking the wrong glasses, people end up not wearing them and this is sad as prescribing glasses is crucial in order to see clearly.”
Walbank Opticians want to change the way customers and the community think about glasses by treating them as an accessory.
Patel said: “By treating glasses as an accessory, people are more likely to wear them which in turn means they will achieve great vision as well as feel confident in their style and look.“
300 glasses frames were displayed at the event, welcoming glasses wearers to find frame colours and styles best suited them.
Food was provided by Nova Forest Kitchen in Dibden Purlieu and Mollys Bakehouse in Hythe.
The event raised funds for Oakhaven Hospice from ticket sales and a raffle.
