Asda has announced new ‘winter warmer’ initiatives to support customers and community groups during the UK’s cost-of-living crisis.
The supermarket will offer customers aged over 60 unlimited tea or coffee, soup and a roll for £1 every day through November and December in its 205 cafes.
Asda Co-owner, Mohsin Issa, said: “We know this winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and a fixed income.”

Over half a million meals in the ‘Kids Eat for £1’ initiative have been served during its launch in June and Asda hopes the new soup and hot drink offer will “prove just as impactful for those who need it most”.
Asda’s charity, the Asda Foundation, will also provide £500,000 of funding to community groups struggling with rising operating costs.
The supermarket is also launching ‘Community Cuppa’ through November and December, creating space in cafes for community groups to enjoy free hot drinks and a space to meet.
