Lymington-based Instagram Coach Allegra Ghiloni reveals top tips for New Forest businesses using the social media platform Instagram.
With 34 million users in the UK, Instagram is one of the leading social platforms for companies to showcase their products and engage with customers.
80 percent of users are said to be looking for inspiration from the businesses and brands they follow (TechCrunch) making the app a key connection between content creators and consumers.
Social media manager Allegra Ghiloni said: “I love seeing companies getting creative and sharing content that involves their customers like sharing videos of customers wearing their products, influencer takeovers, polls that encourage engagement, asking questions, Instagram Lives, or sharing customer experiences.
“Instagram is all about being social and creating community after all.”

The biggest mistake Ghiloni sees companies making is ‘posting and ghosting’, and not engaging with followers that leave comments on posts.
She continues: “It’s all about ‘Reels’ right now. To compete with its biggest competitor TikTok, Instagram announced it’s shifting from a photo platform to a video platform so these reels are a massive trend to jump in on.
Ghiloni states the more reels a profile creates, the more the account will be boosted by the platform’s algorithm for more engagement on the content.
“On an account with 1,000-5,000 followers, a post could get an average of 50-200 likes. Whereas a reel on the same account could reach 3,000-10,000 views.
“As a brand, this massive difference in exposure really opens you up to so many potential new customers and sales.”
“You never know who might see your post and what opportunities it could bring!”

As well as creating online sales, Ghiloni believes Instagram assists company growth offline by encouraging a brand’s followers to visit their stores to view their products or meet the teams in person.
“You never know who might see your post and what opportunities it could bring!
“Have fun, be playful and show your passion and personality in your video reels and your audience will love it!”
Ghiloni recommends small businesses short on time can post three to four times a week if once a day is too big a commitment and scheduling posts in advance is a huge time saver.
